NEWSFLASH | Closure of Main Street - Tuesday 9 March

Weather permitting, the resurfacing of Main Street between Gibbons and Royal Street will be carried out on Tuesday 9 March. Work is expected to be completed during a one day/night operation and a detour will be in place throughout the duration of the resurfacing.

Council’s Roading Division is responsible for managing the city's roading assets. This includes:

234km of roading
300km of kerbs and channels
226km of footpath
3,487 street lights
52 bridges (including 6 pedestrian foot bridges)
numerous sumps and street signs.

Council is also actively involved in road safety education and community projects.

This is in keeping with Councils Strategic Plan to provide a cost effective, high quality and safe road system with a transport network that creates high standards of accessibility within the city, and is user friendly for both residents and visitors as a result of high traffic engineering standards and good directional signage.
