The partial closure at H2O Xtream is to be cut short after progress is seeing re-roofing project at the aquatic centre finish ahead of schedule.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 28 OCT 2016—H2O Xtream aquatic centre will resume its full operating hours earlier than schedule due to the progress of work completed in replacing a section of the roof.

Mild weather has enabled the roofing team to work ahead of the programme, so from Thursday 3 November H2O Xtream will reopen to full weekday hours.

  • Monday – Thursday: 5.30 am – 9.00 pm
  • Friday: 5.30 am – 10.00 pm
  • Saturday: 8.00 am – 7.00 pm
  • Sunday: 8.00 am – 6.30 pm, 7.00 – 9.00 pm (women only)

The 5.30 am weekday opening trial will continue until the end of January. This will provide robust attendance figures so the centre can assess the take-up and value of the earlier hours.

“We understand that life is generally chaotic, and people have told us that they don’t have time before work to get in the water, so we are trialling the earlier opening time to see if it helps,” says Kristin Raynes, Assistant Manager – Operations. “Feedback so far has been really positive.”

“We are so pleased with the timing of this entire job, the team has done so well, and it means that H2O Xtream, and our wider family—our customers—can all go back to our normal schedules,” says Rachel Jury, Recreation Services Manager. “We’d like to say a massive ‘thank you!’ to our regular customers who were disrupted by the maintenance for their patience, and we look forward to seeing you back at H2O Xtream.”
