Walkway tracks closed in Upper Hutt

Moonshine Road

The trail from Moonshine Road through to the Whakatiki stream remains closed due to washouts and the track being undermined by the stream.

Hoggard Park to Norbert Street carpark path

The path between Hoggard Park and Norbert Street carpark is currently closed. Detours are in place so please follow them. Works are ongoing in this area so please pass with caution.

Update: 23 December 2016

All tracks in Maidstone Park are now open.

The Hutt River Trail / Rimutaka Cycle Trail and the trail from Moonshine Road through to the Whakatiki stream remain closed. Access to the Hutt River Trail / Rimutaka Cycle Trail at Gemstone Drive/Topaz is via the signposted bypass route.

Update: 1 December 2016

The Hutt River Trail / Rimutaka Cycle Trail remains closed from just north of Gemstone Drive/Topaz through to Beechwood Lane but a bypass track has been constructed around the ‘wash out’. The bypass track is sign posted and extra care is required in this area.

The following tracks/trails are still closed:

  • Maidstone Park – the track off Seymour grove (signposted as closed). All other tracks are open.
  • Moonshine Road – the trail from Moonshine Road through to the Whakatiki stream is closed.

Walkway tracks closed in Upper Hutt – 18 November 2016

Due to recent weather and raised river levels the following walking tracks are now closed:

  • Maidstone Park – the track off Seymour grove (signposted as closed). All other tracks are open.
  • Hutt River Trail / Rimutaka Cycle Trail – is closed from just north of Gemstone Drive/Topaz through to Beechwood Lane.
  • Moonshine Road – the trail from Moonshine Road through to the Whakatiki stream is closed.

Due to the significant nature of recent weather events, please take extra care around all walking tracks.
