Ward Street Wastewater pipe renewal Stage 2 underway

Wellington Water is carrying out work to renew the aging wastewater system at the southern end of Ward Street.

Work began on 4 December 2017 and is expected to be completed in April 2018. This stage is from the Maclean Street intersection to the Wilford Street intersection.

Ward Street is a busy commuter road and you may like to use alternative routes or allow extra time for your journey while this work is taking place.

This work is important because it will help to improve the resilience of infrastructure in Upper Hutt and reduce pollution. It will also increase capacity for future developments in the area.

The hours of work will generally be between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Saturday (the permitted work period extends to 8.00 pm). There will be traffic management measures in place while the work is carried out, including speed restrictions, and car parking will be affected in Ward Street.

Works in the rail corridor will be completed between 26 December 2017 and 2 January 2018 during the KiwiRail closedown period. The Wallaceville Railway Station will remain open and station car parking will be unaffected.
