New rules for roosters and peacocks effective as of 1 January 2018
As part of Upper Hutt City Council’s bylaw review process, the Keeping of Animals, Poultry and Bees Bylaw 2005 was amended and renamed in 2017.
The most significant change to the bylaw, now called the Keeping of Stock, Poultry and Bees Bylaw 2005, is that roosters and peacocks are no longer allowed to be kept in the urban area. This rule (clause 7.6) comes in to effect from 1 January 2018.
