Review of signs requirements in Upper Hutt underway

Upper Hutt City Council is reviewing its requirements for signs under the District Plan and the Control of Advertising Signs Bylaw.

As a result we are proposing to make several changes, resulting in Proposed Plan Change 45 – Signs and amending the Bylaw including its name to the Control of Temporary Signs Bylaw 2018.

Our objectives are to:

  1. Continue to support the use of signs by businesses and the community, subject to meeting minimum standards.
  2. Make the requirements for signs clearer and easy to use.
  3. Simplify signs management by having the primary focus of the Bylaw on temporary signs, and the District Plan on permanent signs.
