New café opens at H2O Xtream aquatic centre in Upper Hutt

Upper Hutt City Council is partnering with Capital Training to offer Upper Hutt youth a chance to gain work experience at the new onsite café at H2O Xtream.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 17 SEP 2018—H2O Xtream reopen their doors today and, as well as an upgrade, a new café is on site. Deep Café is being run by young people, aged 15 – 24 from the local community, with the support of Capital Training. Capital Training’s mission is to provide youth with on-the-job training in a supportive environment, whilst providing great food and coffee to the Upper Hutt community.

“Council is proud to be partnering with Capital Training,” says Mike Ryan, Council’s Director of Community Services. “It’s great to work with an organisation that is focused on up-skilling young people—helping them to develop the practical skills required to work in the hospitality and retail industry.”

Deep Café has a menu as well as cabinet food and coffee. They also offer a special birthday menu to groups that come to celebrate a birthday at the pool.
