Akatarawa Road closed due to slip

3:00 pm update Contractors are allowing vehicles through the site on a sporadic basis while clearing continues. There are more slips beyond the initial site but the road is currently passable through to Waikanae. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution. Roadworks notice—Main Street

Following up from last week’s news about pot holes in Main Street, the road in this area will be resurfaced which will also improve drainage and skid resistance. Pot holes in Main Street

Council roading staff are aware of public concerns over some recurring potholes in Main Street (north). This section of road was affected by underground pipe renewals and new kerb construction late last year. Due to the recent wet weather delaying work programmes we have been unable to get on with resurfacing this section of road… Read more »

Hutt River Trail damaged

The Hutt River Trail has had a washout behind Gemstone Drive. Contractors are working to install safety barriers around the slip and open up a detour path. Please take extra care around this area as the detour path will be narrow and uneven until further assessment and remedial works can be undertaken. Read more »

Mangaroa Hill Road closed—accident

Mangaroa Hills

12.00 PM: Mangaroa Hill Road is closed due to an accident involving a truck. There is a diesel spill and appropriate service personnel have been called to the scene. The driver is unhurt. Mangaroa Valley is still accessible via Maymorn, Wallaceville Hill Road, and Whitemans Valley. We will advise once the road is reopened. Read more »
