Since the temporary access into Bridge Road has been open, Council has been fielding complaints in relation to people using the access road not coming to a complete stop as they enter Larchmont Grove. Following the heavy rain in recent days toxic algae has been flushed from the Hutt River and cover at Silverstream Bridge is now back below the ‘green’ surveillance threshold. The warning has been removed from www.gw.govt.nz/summer-check. Toxic algae information signs will stay in place in this area as growth will increase again with stable weather. Read more »

There is currently a medium risk toxic algae warning in place for the Hutt River at Silverstream. Moderate growth of toxic algae was observed earlier today and river users, particularly those with dogs, should avoid contact with algal mats in this part of the river.
