Upper Hutt City Council rubbish bags are coloured green and can be purchased from local supermarkets and dairies. The Council bag refuse collection service is funded by a ‘user pays’ system whereby the contractor (Waste Management) provides ‘Council specified’ refuse bags which are bought by the ‘users’ from retail outlets as and when required. While Council approves (through it’s contract) the wholesale rubbish bag price that the contractor can onsell to retail outlets, it has no control over the prices set by retail outlets which can vary from store to store.
Public holidays do not affect the collection of Council rubbish bags except for Good Friday, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Contact your refuse provider for more detailed information.
The opening hours for the recycling drop-off point in Park Street are not affected by the 2017 – 2018 Christmas/New Year season.
Please ensure refuse bags and wheelie bins are placed kerbside by 7.30 am. For further information please contact Waste Management on (04) 568-3550 or your alternative provider.
Links to more information about your rubbish collection day (including conditions of collection) can be found in the Resources and Links section.
